THE PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAMME In December 2006 we announced that our school has been granted Candidate status for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP). Over the next 18 months we will work towards becoming an accredited IB PYP school. What is the Primary Years Programme? The PYP aims to combine the best research and practice from a range of national systems with the wealth of knowledge and experience in international schools to create a transdisciplinary curriculum which is relevant, challenging and engaging for learners of the 3-12 age range. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is designed for students between the ages of 3 and 12 years. It is an international, transdisciplinary programme designed to foster the development of the whole child, not just in the classroom but also through other means of learning. The PYP focuses on the total growth of the developing child, touching hearts as well as minds and encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic welfare. The short video below introduces the IB and Learner Profile. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
